The Group Facilitators Training Institute began its activities under the auspices of the Haim Zippori Community Education Center located in the Jerusalem Forest. The group facilitators training program was soon fondly dubbed “the program of Zippori,” and a graduate of the program “a Zippori graduate.” Soon after, The Zippori Center altered its purpose, and the Group Facilitators Training Institute spread its wings and continued to train effective group facilitators in Jerusalem on its own.
The two year program for group facilitators training has used the same successful format for twenty years, making informed adjustments in order to increase effectiveness and create a unique model of training teaching. This one-of-a-kind model combines theory and practice in active methodologies for group work. This program constitutes a learning-experiential framework for professional, in-depth methodical training.
The group facilitators training program is dynamic yet highly structured. Experience is emphasized and interaction valued. The materials from this process aide the participants in maturing into the role of a group facilitator.
The institute’s managers and the program’s instructors are Ms. Nava Rosenwasser and Mr. Victor Shebar, both social psychologists with expertise and ample experience in training facilitators for group work.
Group Facilitation Reader Nava Rosenwasser and Liron Natan, (Eds.), 1997.
This reader, produced by the institute’s staff, became a central learning tool in the field of group facilitation for different frameworks across the country, both academic and non-academic (inside and outside university settings), where group facilitation theory is being taught.
The group facilitators training institute creates and develops unique training programs and match these programs to the specific characters of the organizations, the participants and the groups with which they work.
